〜てから (te kara)

JLPT N5

Formation
Verb (て-form) + から
Examples

How it works
〜てから stresses order: the first action is completed before the second begins. As the last example shows, it also means “since (a point in time).”
Note this から is different from the から that means “because.”
Compared with similar expressions
〜てから — after doing (sequence / since).
〜あとで — after (a looser “afterwards”; also 食事のあとで).
〜まえに — before doing (the opposite).
Common mistakes
Use the て-form: ✗ 食べるてから → ✓ 食べてから
Don't confuse with から “because” — here it marks time order.
Related grammar
〜まえに — before doing
〜あとで — after
〜から — because
